Aiarty Image Matting: preview 1 of 3

Getting a clean cutout of a subject from its background is a routine task for anyone working with images. Aiarty Image Matting 2.7 for Mac uses AI to handle that job—removing backgrounds and blending foregrounds with a new scene. It handles tricky details like hair, fur, and transparent objects, making it a practical tool for editors who need fast results without manual masking.

Interface languages and manual editing tools included

  • What languages does the interface support? English, German, Traditional Chinese, Simplified Chinese, and Japanese.
  • Does it include manual editing tools? Yes, you get Eraser, Brush, Dodge, and Burn tools for fine-tuning.
  • What's new in version 2.7? It improves RAW decoding for mainstream formats, fixes color accuracy on CR3 files, refines RW2 rendering, and corrects a low-quality preview bug with some TIFF images.

Working with the app

You load an image, let the AI identify the foreground, and then adjust the result with dynamic transparency control if needed. For complex edges—hair, glass, transparent objects—the detail matting handles what used to require tedious manual work. The blending tools let you composite the subject onto a new background with adjustments to edge softness and color matching. It's a straightforward workflow: import, process, export.

Fifty product shots to black background in one batch

Let's walk through a typical batch job. You have fifty product shots of a white ceramic mug against a studio backdrop, and you need them on a plain black background for a website refresh. Open Aiarty Image Matting, load all fifty images at once — the app handles up to 3,000 photos in a batch, so fifty is no problem. The AI runs through the stack, detects each mug, and removes the background. You set the new background to a solid black color, apply it to the whole batch, and export. From import to finished files, you're looking at one pass through the app.

Pairing with Pixelmator Pro and Affinity Photo for finishing

Aiarty Image Matting does one thing and does it well, so you'll pair it with other tools. After matting, I send the images to Pixelmator Pro or Affinity Photo for color grading or resizing. The exported PNGs with transparency drop straight into a design layout or an e-commerce catalog tool without rework. On macOS, Quick Look works fine on the output files, and you can drag finished images from a Finder folder straight into a web browser upload form. For RAW files, version 2.7's improved decoding engine means fewer trips to a dedicated RAW converter before you even start matting.

CR3 and RW2 raw file color fixes in the latest update

The minor update label is accurate, but the fixes matter. CR3 files from newer Canon cameras now show correct colors — earlier versions could shift reds and yellows noticeably. RW2 files from Panasonic cameras render more consistently, so you don't have to second-guess whether the preview matches the export. The TIFF preview fix is small but saves time: no more opening a file just to check if the low-quality preview was hiding edge detail. And the improved RAW decoding engine covers more mainstream formats, which cuts down on format-related errors when you're processing a mixed batch of photos.

None of these changes add new tools or buttons. They just make the existing workflow more reliable, especially if you work with camera originals rather than pre-converted JPEGs or PNGs.
