DELTARUNE runs on both Intel and Apple Silicon Macs, so whether you have an older Intel iMac or a newer M-series machine, it should launch without trouble. The current version, 2026.07.31, includes Chapters 1–5 of this episodic RPG set in a parallel story to UNDERTALE.
Works on both Apple Silicon and Intel Macs
Architecture — Works on ARM (Apple Silicon) and x86 (64-bit Intel) Macs.
Interface languages — English and Japanese.
Controls — Keyboard and mouse, standard for a PC-style RPG. No special controller setup required.
Performance — Expect smooth play on any Mac that meets the architecture requirement; it's not a demanding title.
It's easy to miss a few small conveniences in DELTARUNE that make a real difference once you notice them. The game's action-based battles let you either fight or spare enemies, like in UNDERTALE, but the timing and movement in combat feel a bit more fluid on a Mac keyboard. The disk image you download mounts cleanly on the desktop, and the app itself is a single drag to your Applications folder — no installers or background processes.
The obvious next stop after UNDERTALE
If you played and liked UNDERTALE, this is the obvious next stop. But even if you haven't, the story stands on its own — it's a parallel tale, not a direct sequel. Mac users who prefer single-player, story-driven RPGs with a quirky sense of humor will feel at home right away. Players who appreciate being able to avoid violence, or who want to explore every corner of a small but dense world, will find a lot to work with across the five chapters available now.
It's also a good fit for anyone who likes episodic games they can come back to. Since more chapters are planned as free updates, you can play through what's there and keep your save for later without paying again.
Quick answers before you install
Runs on macOS Sequoia or later
If your Mac has an Intel or Apple Silicon processor and runs macOS Sequoia or later, it should work. The game was tested on a Mac mini 2024 M4, but the developer lists both ARM and x86 64-bit architectures. No activation is required, so you won't hit any online checks or license screens.
A parallel story you can jump into cold
No. DELTARUNE is a parallel story. You'll recognize some characters and themes if you did play it, but the plot stands alone. Jump in cold and you won't be lost.
How much of the game is here now?
Chapters 1 through 5 are included in version 2026.07.31. The developer has said more chapters will arrive as free updates, so your save should carry forward.
Keyboard and mouse work; gamepads may too
The game supports standard keyboard and mouse controls. I haven't tested a gamepad, but many Mac RPG players report using USB or Bluetooth controllers without extra software. Your mileage may vary.
Drag the app to your folder and let it finish copying
Mount the disk image as soon as you download it. Open it, then drag the app into your Applications folder. Let the copy finish completely before you launch it from Launchpad — jumping in early can cause glitches. The game doesn't need an internet connection after that.
Take your time with the first few battles. The action-based system rewards learning enemy patterns, and you can spare or fight each one. If you're used to turn-based RPGs, the timing might take a couple of skirmishes to click.
Save often. The game does not autosave frequently in my experience, and a crash or accidental quit can lose progress. Manual saves are quick and let you experiment with different choices in dialogues and fights without fear.
Check for new chapters occasionally. Since updates are free and you already have the app, you just download the latest disk image and replace the old app in Applications. Your save files stay put.
Copy the app to your Applications folder before launching, as you would with any Mac game.
- Chapters 1–5 are available now.
- Architecture: ARM (Apple Silicon) and x86 (64-bit Intel)
- Interface languages: English, Japanese
