FabFilter Total Bundle 25.06.2026 packs nine professional audio plug-ins into one download for macOS 10.13 and later. It covers the full chain of mixing, mastering, and sound design tasks.
What does each plugin do?
Pro-Q
Pro-Q handles equalizing with a clean, visual interface. You see every filter curve and adjust it directly on the display.
Pro-C and Pro-L
Pro-C is a compressor that controls dynamics without muddying the signal. Pro-L is a limiter that catches peaks and keeps levels safe during mastering.
Saturn and Timeless
Saturn adds multiband distortion for warmth or grit in creative ways. Timeless is a delay with modulation options for echoes that move and evolve.
Twin and Volcano
Twin is a synthesizer that builds pads, leads, and bass from scratch. Volcano is a filter that shapes tone with multiple modes and routing choices.
Podcast editor levels uneven remote audio with Pro-Q and Pro-C
Say you run a small podcast production outfit from a home office. You record interviews over video calls, and the audio always comes in uneven — one guest is quiet, another clips, and room tone changes between segments. FabFilter Total Bundle lets you handle all of that without bouncing between half a dozen separate utilities. Pro-Q cleans up low-end rumble and harsh sibilance on the voice track. Pro-DS catches the sharp "s" sounds that pop out after compression. Pro-C evens out the levels across speakers so the final mix sounds like everyone was in the same room. Pro-L catches the odd peak so you don't have to ride the gain manually. For a single person doing editing, mixing, and mastering, that's a complete chain in one set of plugins.
FabFilter Total Bundle vs. other Mac plugin collections
Versus iZotope Music Production Suite
iZotope's bundle leans heavily on AI-assisted tools like Ozone's mastering assistant and RX's spectral editing. FabFilter Total Bundle takes the opposite approach: you get precise, manual control with a very clean visual interface. If you prefer to see every parameter and adjust it by hand, FabFilter makes more sense. If you want automated suggestions and spectral repair, iZotope may suit you. Both bundles cover EQ, compression, reverb, and limiting, but they feel different in daily use.
Versus Waves Horizon
Waves Horizon gives you a large collection of individual plugins, but many of them date back to earlier eras of digital audio. FabFilter's set is smaller but each plugin is actively updated and shares a consistent interface style. You don't have to learn a new workflow for every insert. The FabFilter set also runs natively on Apple Silicon, which matters if you are on a newer Mac and want to avoid Rosetta translation.
Versus ValhallaDSP VintageVerb
ValhallaDSP is not a bundle but a single reverb plugin, so comparing directly is unfair. Still, if reverb is your main concern, Pro-R gives you the same kind of natural, flexible sound with more control over early reflections and decay. Valhalla's sound is more character-oriented; Pro-R is surgical when you need it and lush when you don't.
Plugins missing from your DAW after installation
- Plugins don't show up in your DAW. After installation, restart your DAW or your computer. FabFilter plugins install to the standard VST2, VST3, AU, and AAX locations macOS expects. If they still don't appear, open your DAW's plugin manager and rescan. On some DAWs, you need to point the scan folder to
/Library/Audio/Plug-Ins. - High latency in Pro-C or Pro-L in lookahead mode. Lookahead adds a small buffer delay. If you are tracking live vocals, turn lookahead off or set it low. For mastering, keep it on and deal with the latency at the render stage.
- Pro-R sounds too bright. The default reverb tail in Pro-R is neutral, but if it feels harsh, dial back the high-frequency damping. The plugin gives you a visual curve for the reverb's EQ, so you can roll off the top end until it sits right.
- Saturn's distortion sounds thin on bass. Saturn works in multiband mode by default. If you are processing a bass track, switch to single-band mode and adjust the drive and tone controls. The multiband crossover can thin out low frequencies if you don't set the crossover point carefully.
Compatible with Logic Pro, Ableton Live, Pro Tools, and more
FabFilter Total Bundle works with any DAW that supports VST2, VST3, AU, or AAX — that covers Logic Pro, Ableton Live, Cubase, Pro Tools, Reaper, Studio One, and others. On macOS, the plugins install to standard system folders, so they are available across all compatible hosts without extra configuration.
macOS 10.13 and later include the Audio Units system, which FabFilter uses for its VST3 and AU formats. If you run multiple audio apps side by side — say, Logic Pro for mixing and Ableton Live for sound design — the plugins appear in both without reinstalling. The disk image installer handles that automatically.
For users who also work with video, FabFilter plugins work in video editing apps that support VST3 or AU, like DaVinci Resolve or Final Cut Pro. You can apply Pro-Q's filter to clean up dialogue or use Pro-L to keep levels consistent before exporting to a video timeline.
Daily mixing work relies on Pro-Q, Pro-C, Pro-L, and Pro-R
Mixing and mastering engineers who work daily with EQ, compression, limiting, and reverb will use Pro-Q, Pro-C, Pro-L, and Pro-R in nearly every session. The visual feedback and precise control save time when you need to dial in a filter or a threshold quickly.
Sound designers and electronic music producers will reach for Saturn, Timeless, Twin, and Volcano more often. Saturn's multiband distortion and Timeless's modulated delay give you movement and texture that are hard to get from standard DAW effects. Twin and Volcano let you build new sounds from scratch without loading a separate synth or filter plugin.
Podcast and spoken-word editors benefit from Pro-DS and Pro-G for de-essing and gating. Pro-MB can tame a boomy vocal by compressing only the low frequencies, leaving the rest untouched. That kind of selective control is harder to achieve with a single-band compressor.
Anyone on an Apple Silicon Mac (M1, M2, M3, or later) will appreciate that the entire bundle runs natively without Rosetta. No extra setup, no performance penalty. Just install and work.
Pro-MB is a multiband compressor that treats separate frequency ranges independently. Pro-R creates reverbs that feel natural, from tight rooms to wide halls.
