You start on a deserted island with nothing but a torch and a few rocks. The first thing you do is punch a tree, pick up some berries, and spot a Pal — a creature that could either help you or tear you apart. From there, the day-to-day work begins.
Capture and assign Pals
You throw a Pal Sphere at a weakened creature to catch it. Once it’s yours, you assign it to a task: watering crops, mining ore, generating electricity, or working on a factory line. Pals are your workforce, your transport, and your backup in a fight.
Build and farm to survive
Food runs out. The environment turns hostile at night. You build a base, plant seeds, sow, water, and harvest. Pals handle the repetitive work once you set them up, but you still have to manage the layout and keep the food chain running.
Breed, fight, or trade Pals
You can breed two Pals to produce offspring that inherit traits from both parents. You can also sell them, dismantle them for materials, or — if things get desperate — eat them. Poachers show up and attack your base, so you fight back with Pals at your side or alone.
Farming layout and rare Pal scouting with a friend
A friend and I run a private co-op game on weekends. One of us handles the farming layout — rows of berry bushes, a few wheat patches — while the other scouts for rare Pals. We keep a shared base with a few workstations and a breeding pen. The rhythm works: I gather ore and wood, he brings back new Pals, and we assign them to the assembly lines before logging off. The game tracks each player’s inventory separately, so we drop materials into shared boxes. It’s not perfect, but it beats managing everything alone.
Workarounds for common server and gameplay snags
Pals stop working or idle at the base
You assign a Pal to a job, walk away, and come back to find it standing still. This usually happens when the workstation is too far from the Pal’s designated area or when a path is blocked. Move the workstation closer to the feeding trough and keep the base layout open. Pals also stop working when they’re hungry or stressed — check their status before blaming a glitch.
Can’t catch a Pal even at low health
Pals have a catch rate that depends on their level and health, but also on the type of Sphere you use. A basic Sphere won’t reliably hold a high-level Pal. Try weakening it further or craft a better Sphere. If a Pal breaks out repeatedly, you might be close to the catch threshold — just one or two more hits.
Base gets raided and you’re not there
Raids happen even when you’re away from the base. The game pauses raids when nobody is in the area, but if you fast-travel back mid-raid, you might find structures damaged. Build a perimeter wall early and keep repair materials handy. Pals assigned to defense will help, but they won’t stop everything.
Native Apple Silicon build on a Mac mini M4
This build is compiled for Apple Silicon, so it runs natively on M-series Macs. The version is 1.0.5.102999, and the tested setup was macOS Tahoe on a Mac mini 2024 M4. Activation is not required — mount the disk image, drag the app to your Applications folder, and launch it from Launchpad.
Interface languages include English, Russian, German, Spanish, Italian, Traditional Chinese, Simplified Chinese, Korean, Portuguese, French, and Japanese. Voice is music only, so you won’t get spoken dialogue. The game is designed for ARM architecture, so Intel-based Macs are not supported.
First settings to adjust for smoother play
Brightness and gamma
The default brightness can feel low during nighttime and dungeon sections. Bump it up a notch early on so you can see what you’re doing in caves and dark forests.
Control layout
If you prefer keyboard and mouse, check the control bindings before you start capturing Pals. Rebind anything that feels awkward — you don’t want to fumble for the right key while a Pal is charging at you.
Multiplayer visibility
If you’re on a co-op server, you can adjust who sees your base and your Pals. Set it to friends only if you don’t want randoms wandering through your camp.

Questions from the office
What happens when a Pal runs out of food?
Pals need food to keep working. If they run out, they stop working and can become hostile or run away. Keeping a steady supply of berries, meat, or cooked meals is part of the survival loop.
Installation steps
- Mount the downloaded disk image.
- Drag the app into the Applications folder alias.
- Launch the app from Launchpad after copying finishes.
